Mahendra Chaudhry

Mahendra Chaudhry was the Prime Minister of Fiji for the Fiji Labour Party.

He became Fiji's first ethnic Indian prime minister in 1999, but he and his government were taken hostage in 2000 by George Speight. He was sacked by the president Ratu Kamisese Mara during this crisis, was later released and embarked on a tour of the world to rally support.
