Lapu-Lapu City

Lapu-Lapu City is a city of the Philippines located in the province of Cebu. The city occupies most of Mactan Island, just one kilometer southeast from the island of Cebu, and also covers the whole of Olango Island 5 kilometers further to the southeast. Lapu-Lapu City is part of the larger Cebu Metropolitan Area centered on Cebu City.

The Mactan International Airport is located in Lapu-Lapu City and is the country's second-busiest airport.

The city was named after Lapu-Lapu, the country's first hero and chieftain of Mactan Island, who, in 1521, resisted the attempts of Ferdinand Magellan to colonize Mactan.
