Whiteriver (Western Apache Chʼílwozh) is a census-designated place located in Navajo County, Arizona. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 5,220.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 46.2 km² (17.8 mi²). 46.2 km² (17.8 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 5,220 people, 1,249 households, and 1,054 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 113.1/km² (293.0/mi²). There are 1,330 housing units at an average density of 28.8/km² (74.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 3.03% White, 0.04% Black or African American, 95.10% Native American, 0.04% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.31% from other races, and 1.49% from two or more races. 1.90% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,249 households out of which 56.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.1% are married couples living together, 34.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 15.6% are non-families. 12.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 1.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 4.10 and the average family size is 4.45.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 44.4% under the age of 18, 10.6% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 13.3% from 45 to 64, and 3.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 21 years. For every 100 females there are 91.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.5 males.

Cradleboard Elementary School is a kindergarten through Sixth Grade Elementary School located in the Cradleboard neighborhood of Whiteriver, Arizona. Cradleboard is on the White Mountain Apache Reservation in the White Mountains of Arizona.
