Westin Peachtree Plaza

The Westin Peachtree Plaza is an impressive skyscraper 220 meters (722 feet) tall, and contains 73 stories of hotel rooms. When it was finished in 1976, it was the tallest hotel building in the world (later to be surpassed by the Marriott Renaissance Center in Detroit). It was also Atlanta's tallest building from 1976 to 1987.

The building is cast in reflective glass in a cylindrical shape that reflects the entire skyline around it in a panorama effect. There is also a small cylinder attached to its side that is actually an elevator shaft. In the uppermost floors, there is a revolving restaurant and public observatory, which go around once each hour. The design is very similar to the Marriott Renaissance Center.

The architectural firm that designed it was John Portman & Associates. The tower is owned and operated by Westin hotels.

Atop the building is a small tower, currently home to WZGC FM 92.9 ("Dave FM")'s radio antenna. It also has a smaller antenna lower down that is the station's backup antenna, and which is shared with backup for WVEE FM 103.3 ("V-103"), both owned by Infinity Broadcasting. WWWQ FM 100.5 ("Q100") first used the same antenna when it moved to Atlanta, before it upgraded and relocated within the city. The tower's top was formerly WUPA TV 69, which was forced to build another tower elsewhere because another antenna for digital TV would not fit. WSTR FM 94.1 ("Star 94") also lists the building as its allotment, indicating it too might have used the building at one point.
