Warm Springs, Oregon

Warm Springs is an unincorporated community located in Jefferson County, Oregon. The community is named for the nearby Warm Springs River. For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined Warm Springs as a census-designated place. The census definition of the area may not precisely correspond to local understanding of the area with the same name. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 2,431.

Warm Springs is located at 44°45'37" North, 121°16'6" West (44.760168, -121.268233)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 110.6 km² (42.7 mi²). 110.1 km² (42.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.44% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,431 people, 603 households, and 507 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 22.1/km² (57.2/mi²). There are 642 housing units at an average density of 5.8/km² (15.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 2.47% White, 0.08% African American, 93.46% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 1.11% from other races, and 2.80% from two or more races. 6.50% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 603 households out of which 50.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 35.3% are married couples living together, 34.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 15.9% are non-families. 11.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 4.02 and the average family size is 4.19.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 41.1% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 15.4% from 45 to 64, and 4.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 24 years. For every 100 females there are 104.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 101.5 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $29,886, and the median income for a family is $28,300. Males have a median income of $27,083 versus $20,897 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $8,583. 32.3% of the population and 28.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 37.9% of those under the age of 18 and 15.9% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
