Warm Mineral Springs is a census-designated place located in Sarasota County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 4,811.

The Warm Mineral Springs locale is notable for a free-flowing artesian spring. A large portion of the area was annexed by the municipality of North Port, and is now part of that city.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.5 km² (2.9 mi²). 6.8 km² (2.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 9.62% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 4,811 people, 2,720 households, and 1,765 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 709.0/km² (1,834.2/mi²). There are 3,672 housing units at an average density of 541.1/km² (1,399.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 98.90% White, 0.33% African American, 0.06% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.06% from other races, and 0.44% from two or more races. 0.81% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,720 households out of which 2.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.6% are married couples living together, 2.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.1% are non-families. 31.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 26.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.77 and the average family size is 2.10.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 2.5% under the age of 18, 1.1% from 18 to 24, 4.7% from 25 to 44, 19.3% from 45 to 64, and 72.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 72 years. For every 100 females there are 83.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 83.6 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $30,806, and the median income for a family is $37,488. Males have a median income of $30,847 versus $16,921 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $23,213. 7.6% of the population and 4.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 34.6% of those under the age of 18 and 5.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
