The WWE Women's Championship is the only diva-exclusive championship in World Wrestling Entertainment. It is believed to be an exclusive championship to the RAW brand.

History
The Women's Championship was first won by The Fabulous Moolah on September 15, 1956 after she defeated Judy Grable in a tournament final. At the time, it was recognized as the NWA Women's championship, but in 1983, Moolah, who at the time owned the rights to the Women's championship and the Women's tag team championship, sold the rights to Vince McMahon, when the then WWWF withdrew from the NWA. It was thus recognized exculsively as the WWF Women's Championship.
In early to mid-2002, the WWE underwent a process they called the Brand Extension (RAW and SmackDown! became separate shows), but the Women's Championship (along with the Undisputed Championship) could be defended on both shows. However, nearly all of the Women's title defenses since then have taken place on RAW so at this point it is believed to be RAW-exclusive.
Trivia
- Moolah claims the longest championship reign in professional sports history, holding the title for twenty-eight years, though this claim is disputed; records show she lost the title to Betty Boucher, a series of Japanese wrestlers, Sue Green and Evelyn Stevens, however the WWE does not recognize any of these title changes.
- The modern record for the most championship reigns is six, held by Trish Stratus.
- Lita is the only woman to win the WWE Women's Championship twice on the main event of a WWE RAW show. (1st against Stephanie McMahon, second against Trish Stratus.)
- Harvey Whippleman is the only man to ever win the title, he won the title from Stacy Carter (The Kat) at the end of January on an episode of RAW, and lost it two days later on Smackdown in a match against Jacqueline Moore.
Current champion
The current Women's Champion is Trish Stratus in her sixth reign. Stratus defeated Lita at WWE New Year's Revolution (January 9, 2005).
