Sig

Can you make your sig close the </font> tags? The colour bleeds in mozilla, otherwise. Morwen - Talk 07:46, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I didn't know this was happening. I thought I'd save some characters in my sig by not closing it. I've closed it now. =Nichalp «Talk»= 07:53, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)
I guess you're using an old version of Mozilla. 1.0.4 Firefox does not have this "bleeding". =Nichalp «Talk»= 07:55, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

Sockpuppet?

When you see a potential sockpuppet in a vote, the usual approach is to add a short note under their vote, along the lines of "* User has five edits.". Usually, that means their vote will be discounted by whomever closes the discussion. Yours, Radiant_>|< 10:12, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the info =Nichalp «Talk»= 10:18, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

Flag of india

i wanted to change the picture of the flag. but i do not know how to change it. so if u can please change the pic. thanks - kaushik

Kaushik, you'll have to create an account before you upload an image. To change an image simply upload an image of the same filename. I wanted to change it but am not sure of the chakra. =Nichalp «Talk»= 13:56, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

Chhattisgarh

Hello "Nichalp" - the vehicle plate symbol for Chhattisgarh is CG, I beleive so - based on a tele-talk right now with a person at Chennai who had been to Chhattisgarh, and he told me: CG. I have never been to Chhattisgarh myself. I will further confirm after collecting more exact information. --Bhadani 15:49, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the info. =Nichalp «Talk»= 17:31, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

FAC voting

Thanks for reminding. I'd noticed Indian Railways FAC, but I usually time my vote such that with my vote and the associated comments, I try to answer critics. Any way, I've voted as noone might oppose this great article. :-) -- Sundar (talk • contribs) 03:50, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

Template:India states

Hi Nichalp. Template:Tl doesn't start counting from 15 from Maharashtra at the head of the second column. I don't know how to correct it. Please take care. -- Sundar (talk • contribs) 05:49, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

See Image:TemplateIndiaStates.png. Looks like a browser issue. Never mind as noone else in the world would be using Konqueror. :-) -- Sundar 09:27, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

P.S. Delete the temporary images as soon as you see them. They're otherwise a load on our disks.

I've deleted the images. By the way, take a look at Jewish POV here. -- Sundar 09:38, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

Gandhi

Oh thanks. I was only concerned about the factual correctness. -- Sundar 10:34, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

Papua New Guinea

A few days ago, you removed the nomination of Papua New Guinea. You stated on the talk-page of the IP who nominated it that it was not up to the standards. I can see the intro is too short, so I agree. Did you notice anything else that needs to be done?--Fenice 11:32, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Commons admin

Hi there, we haven't spoken before, but you know my boyfrind David. I was wondering who can and can't vote on the Admin nominations on Commons. I noticed you are an admin there, which is why I'm asking you. Please let me know as I was hoping to nominate myself today. Thanks, --Silversmith Hewwo 14:38, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks a lot, see you around! --Silversmith Hewwo 15:00, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Ok, I've finally bitten the bullet - [1] (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Administrators/Requests_and_votes) Thanks for the help again, --Silversmith Hewwo 21:07, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Flag images

I made them. Páll 19:11, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Geography articles

I posted your suggestions to the talk-page of Papua New Guinea. You seem to have quite a clear concept of what a country-article should look like. Many of the country articles here need improvement badly, long before tiny PNG does, look at Brazil for instance. I thought you might be interested in founding a geography collaboration? Something like a biweekly geography workshop.--Fenice 09:01, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I have critiqued a few country and city articles in the past in Peer review and Featured Article Candidates. I agree with you that country article should be given a higher priority. I don't think I can be committed to a geography collaboration. I am willing to lend my ideas, but contributing and taking care of them will take up a lot of my time. I write India-related featured articles, and since I am usually the only one contributing to the material, it takes up most of my time. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 13:25, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

India page images

An anon User:130.237.79.106 had been replacing the images on the India page. I had messaged him yesterday, but after receiving no response after two warnings I blocked him. He emailed me saying that the images were too balanced in favour of North India. Since I had selected the images, I checked the list.

  1. Taj is from N. India
  2. Gumpa dance is fron NE India; Sikkim
  3. Goa temple is from W India
  4. Sanchi stupa is from Central India
  5. Infosys is from S. India
  6. Himalayas, Vishnu, and Holi can be replaced by more representative images.

What do you think? I think its balanced. =Nichalp «Talk»= 09:31, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

It is well balanced. Unfortunately, some of us South Indians mistakenly see everything to the north of us (including the west and north-east) as North India. Perhaps you can add Pongal to the list of secular Indian festivals and Onam to the list of Hindu? festivals to balance the culture section. Please note that I do not seek to place images of any of these. -- Sundar (talk • contribs) 09:40, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, I've added Pongal (though it doesn't seem to fit in with Hindu festivals). You could try and NPOV things over. =Nichalp «Talk»= 09:50, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)
I've reworded it a bit, but still not sure if Pongal should be mentioned there. One argument in favour of having it is because it is a nearly true secular festival. Otherwise, there is no way it merits a special mention considering we left out so many regional festivals. -- Sundar 10:02, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

Hi, Would you please add Diwali image instead of the holi image? The image I tried to add, and you reverted is licenced. I think for an image of that size, the arrangement of lamps looks a lot better and represents Diwali better than a thumbnail of pictures showing people having good time. I really think the diwali image is very good. (maybe have to be resized a bit.) I think Diwali should make either sides happy. IndiBoy 09:53, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Having a free image is mandatory for featured articles. You can take a photograph during this Diwali and then upload it under Template:Tl. We'll be happy to put that one. -- Sundar 10:02, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

But the image IS free. Is it not? IndiBoy 10:09, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your support, I really appreciate it! --Silversmith Hewwo 11:33, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
