In response to your message on my page: the beauty of Wikipedia is that if the person who created a meaningless "Yay for dinosaurs!" page wants to come back and write a real article, they still can. In the meantime, by deleting that three-word not even a stub article, I've ensured that if someone is writing about dinosaurs, or recent events, and creates a link to that species, they'll see that there is no article, and may write one. From the viewpoint of the reader, "yay for dinosaurs" isn't information about the subject. Vicki Rosenzweig

Regarding the architecture page, I was merely trying to organize the page in some way that was not the confusing form that I found it. I think if you look at the page history you will see that it was just a long list of links; it says at the top of the page that it is organizing the list into different categories, but there are no categories; that seems illogical to me, not politically incorrect. I do not think this is a NPOV question, it is just a question of coming up with a set of categories; I think you are being oversensitive, it is not an article, just a list of articles to help people find things. I have no special expertise in the architecture area, I only ended up there because I was trying to find out what the capitalization convention of Beaux Arts style might might be and if there was already an article on it as it is a link on several pages. Patterns
Hi,
actually, patterns in software design are not unrelated to patterns in other design processes, only the patterns themselves are often specific to that type of design. For example, in software design I would have a pattern like the famous "composite pattern" (http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?CompositePattern) which allows me to compose objects into tree structures. In software design, such a pattern basically gives me a template which I can work with. I saw that you were objecting to andy's redirect at stupa. You haven't added anything further to the talk page for a while so is it ok to assume you haven't found any evidence that a stupa is not a pagoda? From a Google search, it does seem that a stupa is a type of pagoda. Sorry about not replying to your October 16 comment -- I was busy. It would be fairly difficult to remove all references of your IP address from the database, and I don't think it's worth it. Currently, your IP address doesn't seem to be in any searchable part, so a casual passer-by wouldn't see it. I go by my real name online, so as you might imagine, I find it hard to understand what all the fuss is about. If someone obtained your IP address, they would only be able to determine your institution. If someone had the means to connect an IP address with a person (say by hacking, bribery, etc.) they could probably determine your IP address from scratch. We could already guess from your contributions that you are an Indian architecture student, so your IP address doesn't give much more information.
Regarding Classical architecture -- it's possible that some sort of poorly-written script or bot corrupted the database while converting quotes to HTML entities. Have you ever edited that page? -- Tim Starling 05:05, Oct 19, 2003 (UTC)
Thanks for telling me about that image. I'll have to tell you the story now. A troll by the name of Joe Canuck (also called DW and Black Widow) was accusing everyone of slandering him, and told us all he'd sue us. He thought "some" participants in the debate (i.e. me) were "hiding behind their non-US residence", thereby being able to slander him without fear of legal repercussions. The picture is me hiding behind my non-US residence, looking smug. John Owens uploaded another version shortly afterwards, with me looking like Satan. I thought it was funny, but I reverted it straight away because I had to go to bed. Then "Penfold", whoever he is, reverted it back to John's version a couple of weeks ago. And as Tamil Literature was just a redierct, I have restored Tamil literature! It was just an external link, and therefore instantly deletable. I didn't see why it had ever been listed on VfD. - Sorry for my 'sexist' goof. I am usually very conscious while addressing people on Wikipedia, and often check my edits twice, before I make the "dreaded assumption". English has to still develop and work around the Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis problem, I guess.

Hello KRS. I apologise for not raising a discussion on the Hampi / Vijayanagar matter first before making changes. Regarding the names, I believe the name Hampi is in use on maps primarily because it is a populated place, and the only such one in the city.The names now correspond to those used by George Michell in his book and website, and also the other modern scholarly references that I have seen. However, if you feel that Hampi is more correct, feel free to change it back. It will probably be necessary then to explain the distinction between the village and the ruins. Hindu mythology is a great idea. Edits in this field now are sporadic. Currently, one has to mine through sparse links to get through to some good articles. I think you should replace Aryan invasion theory with your temp (or incrementally, whichever you prefer). I agree with your contention that the article currently deemphasizes the difference between the invasion and migration theories. I read your version it briefly, and the structure seems better than the current article (although shorter section titles would be nice). I'm assuming that the temp version retains all the content. Since there has been no objection to your proposal, why not go ahead? Incidentally, you're a bit of an enigma :-) Your excellent work at Iyer suggests you might be a Tam. OTOH, you wrote "das = ten", which might mean you're Hindi. I wonder where you're from?

- While KRS seems to want to keep this an enigma, I wonder why writing "das = ten", makes one a Hindi. It is Sanskrit too :-). And BTW, I dont think people in the south are so chauvinistically anti-Hindi any more. - Unfortunately, the talk page for the article has become a graffiti wall, with people having a free-for-all throwing conspiracy theories and little-known assertions. Is there a limit to what can be discussed on the Talk Page? I am sorry to see an article that was shaping up so well, become a party to a dispute, so disassociated with the topic. I am particularly peeved at the assertion that there is a class of native Indian Hindus who are more flexible to the other religions, and that the so-called 'real' Hindus (who are supposedly foreign) are not. KRS: If you didn't realize, I'm not denying Islamic influence. Indeed, I was trying to be specific. Mughals ARE Muslims, so there's no confusion. But there are differences within Islamic culture, such as artforms and dress, etc. THe Mughals are a particular branch of Islamic culture. So I appreciate your deferential and political tone with me and the gratitude for contributions, but I would ask that you try to get in touch with the subject matter. Do some research on Mughal culture and you'll realize I'm not denying Islam, I'm cleaving to tenets of an encyclopedia, those of accuracy and giving as much info as possible. Hindu culture? - So what you're basically saying is that you agree and you disagree. I will first address Mughal/Islam. You obviously didn't understand anything I wrote. I was merely clarifying that the group of MUSLIMS who affected Indian art were MUGHAL. That's why the art is called a miniature of the MUGHAL tradition. But that immediately implies Muslim. As I said, I'm quite aware that much of Hindustani (by which I mean north Indian) culture is heavily Islamically influenced. But there is a difference between the Islamic cultures of say, Turkey and Persia. They are affected by their immediate local and adjoining cultures. If you look at the India page, you'll note that I wrote Muslim in parentheses. Do you have a problem with my mentioning that they are Mughal?
- Secondly, I believe it is bad form to disregard my request for open, NPOV discussion on the India: Talk board (look at the India Page History) and instead post on my discussion board. I am under no obligation to keep non-essential messages on my board. I believe, personally, that things that relate to me, such as requesting me to quiet down, or speak up, or to talk about arranging a large project, are certainly to be kept up. However, discussion of one specific topic (i.e. Mughal=Islamic or more) that is crucial to one article should be done in an open forum.
