The University of Hawai'i-West O'ahu, formerly West O'ahu College, is one of ten branches of the University of Hawai'i System anchored by the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa in Honolulu, Hawai'i. The University of Hawai'i-West O'ahu is a public, co-educational university located in Pearl City, Hawai'i in the United States and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It opened in January 1976 and in 1989 attained the rank of university as approved by the Hawai'i State Legislature. The University of Hawai'i-West O'ahu currently shares a campus with affiliated Leeward Community College.
The University of Hawai'i-West O'ahu is primarily a commuter school, serving residents of the western and central suburban communities of Honolulu.
Academics
Students of the University of Hawai'i-West O'ahu study towards one or more of four degrees offered: Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (specializations in accounting and general business administration), Bachelor of Arts in Humanities (specializations in Hawaiian and Pacific studies, history, literature and philosophy), Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration (specializations in general public administration and justice administration), Bachelor of Arts in the Social Sciences (specializations in anthropology, economics, political science, psychology and sociology).
