Tucker is a census-designated place located in Neshoba County, Mississippi. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 534.

Geography

Tucker is located at 32°42'24" North, 89°3'22" West (32.706559, -89.055984)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 9.5 km² (3.7 mi²). 9.5 km² (3.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.55% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 534 people, 154 households, and 125 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 56.5/km² (146.4/mi²). There are 159 housing units at an average density of 16.8/km² (43.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 5.99% White, 0.19% African American, 92.88% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.56% from other races, and 0.37% from two or more races. 0.56% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 154 households out of which 53.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 33.8% are married couples living together, 34.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.2% are non-families. 14.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.47 and the average family size is 3.76.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 42.5% under the age of 18, 11.6% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 11.2% from 45 to 64, and 4.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 22 years. For every 100 females there are 87.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 79.5 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $21,607, and the median income for a family is $19,943. Males have a median income of $16,458 versus $16,750 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $5,939. 31.0% of the population and 33.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 27.5% of those under the age of 18 and 59.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
