Railways

There are a total of 3,973 kilometers of railways. Of that, 2,888 kilometers is standard gauge, with 283 kilometers of that being electrified and 215 kilometers of that being double tracked. There is also 1,085 kilometers of 1.055 meter narrow gauge track.

Railway links to adjacent countries

There are no links to Libya, Niger, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, or Western Sahara. The connection status to Tunisia is unknown.

Highways

There are 71,656 kilometers of paved roads including 640 kilometers of expressways and 32,344 kilometers of unpaved roads for a total road system of 104,000 kilometers.

Pipelines

There are 6,612 kilometers of crude oil pipeline, 298 kilometers of refined petroleum pipeline, and 2,948 kilometers of natural gas pipeline.

Merchant marine

There are 69 ships with gross registered tonnages over 1,000 under the Algerian flag. There are 9 bulk cargo ships, 23 cargo ships, 6 chemical tankers, 10 LNG ships, 4 oil tankers, 12 RORO ships, 4 short-sea passenger ships, and 1 specialized tanker on the Algerian register. 2 of these ships are vessels from the United Arab Emirates registed here as a flag of convenience.

Airports

There are 136 airports. 54 of these have paved runways. 82 have unpaved runways. There is 1 heliport.
