Templeville, Maryland

Templeville is a town located in Caroline County and in Queen Anne's County, Maryland. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 80. It was known as Bullock Town until the name was changed in 1847. The name Templeville derives from the Temple family, with its most famous member the governor Temple of Delaware.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 80 people, 32 households, and 14 families residing in the town. The population density is 441.3/km² (1,084.8/mi²). There are 37 housing units at an average density of 204.1/km² (501.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 77.50% White, 5.00% African American, 1.25% Native American, 8.75% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 5.00% from other races, and 2.50% from two or more races. 5.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 32 households out of which 28.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 21.9% are married couples living together, 12.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 56.3% are non-families. 50.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 31.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.50 and the average family size is 3.79.

In the town the population is spread out with 27.5% under the age of 18, 12.5% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 16.3% from 45 to 64, and 17.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 86.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.1 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $15,938, and the median income for a family is $24,375. Males have a median income of $26,667 versus $15,625 for females. The per capita income for the town is $10,202. 40.7% of the population and 40.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 30.0% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
