I moved this from Venus (planet), but I'm not sure it belongs here either. I question the veracity of the information. -- April
- A good move. The point of this entry is to distinguish Venus from Greek aphrodite, and to discuss the new meanings of Venus as the generative power that animates the natural world: compare Jean Seznec's book. The woodcut is from Hypnerotomachia Pamphili ("The strife of Love and Death in a dream"), a famous book illustrated with arcane emblems that show a Renaissance "Court of Venus".
