Capabilites of Syncom 1-3?
There's a bit of disagreement between these two sources:
http://roland.lerc.nasa.gov/~dglover/sat/syncom.html states that several concurrent two-way phone conversations were possible on the Syncom satellites, whilst their NSSDC (1 (http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/database/MasterCatalog?sc=1963-004A) 2 (http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/database/MasterCatalog?sc=1963-031A) 3 (http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/database/MasterCatalog?sc=1964-047A)) entries suggest just one full duplex telephone channel.
