Shouldn't this be at minuscule to match majuscule?

The preceeding what? Word? Why not just not write it as part of the preceeding word? I don't really get this explanation. Does anyone have a clearer one? -- Oliver P. 03:38 May 9, 2003 (UTC)
Is the variant spelling miniscule commonly used for minuscule letters? If so, the article should list it as a variant. If not, maybe something along the lines of:
- Usage note: A recently appearing variant spelling miniscule is becoming increasingly common. However, this spelling is not widely used to refer to miniscule letters.
