What?
Stan the man, did not approve of THE METHOD, it was a half understanding of the techniques which stanislavski used. Infact by the end of his time teaching stanislavski had come to realise that REAL emotions on stage which use emotions in your own life have a detrimental effect on the person. If you cry at the loss of a pet once, you will be sad, the second time a little less sad, until eventually you lose the ability to cry at the loss, and that brings about a feeling of guilt, and anger at the loss of emotion for an event which should be sacred.
THE METHOD however is a form of lunacy, you cannot assume the role of a character, without the magic "IF" actors pretend as "IF" they were the real person, the only way to truly be a method actor is to be insane. Only a schizophrenic can actually become someone else, and what is the consequence if an actor becomes a serial killer for a role, and loses the grasp on reality. It was the Magic "IF" which strasbourg forgot about, and therefore created a bunch of actors who cannot be allowed to walk the same streets as others.
