The bloody UN classifications link is down again. Anyone got a mirror? --Myrth

nsmap.jpg has the image portion - don't know where we can get the textual portion. --Goobergunch 20:59, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Regional Forums

Should there really be links to regional forums here? There are so many regions in NationStates that if we start linking regional forums, there's really no point at which we'd stop. --Goobergunch 18:31, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Personally, I'm opposed to including regional forums here, but at the same time, I would like to advertise them somehow. GulDan 21:27, Jun 17, 2004 (UTC)
I think that, at least Europe and the Meritocracy (and possibly the Heartland) are worth mentioning, due to the amount of dedication and effort put there, which surpasses any other regions. I'm an Europe player, so I added European Affairs. I was going to add the Meritocracy, but didn't know if I needed any special authorization or not. I don't want to have copyright or licence problems.MiguelFC 22:12, Jun 17, 2004 (UTC)
Perhaps a link to my thread in Gameplay with all the links to the regional forums? Would save cluttering up this page with external links. Myrth 02:39, 18 Aug 2004 (UTC)
List of Regional Websites/Forums sounds good to me, but I'd like to see it updated with all of the links currently on there so people can't whine about their links being lost. --Goobergunch 18:59, 18 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Agreed. I'll update that thread then we can start a policy of clearing them off as we see them. --Myrth 00:34, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)
I've cleared the ASE and TPC links because it's IMHO rather silly to include links to NationStates region pages under "External Links". I have added an RLA link, mainly to avoid EuroSoviets and Blackbird from smiting me.  ;)  :In the League of NationStates (http://ns.goobergunch.net) which I'm setting up, I'm going to post a very long and comprehensive list of regional forums and websites that hopefully we can just link to and remove the ever-growing list of websites under "External Links". --Goobergunch 23:42, 12 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Opinions

NationStates players -- please don't post your opinions about the NationStates UN or other aspects of the game in the entry. Thanks.

Edits

 • I've added to the page. William S. 00:34, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)
 • I moved the paragraph about joining the UN up before the stuff about the invaders/defenders to make the description more logical of the game.-A

Clean-up?

 • I think this article is in need of a bit of a clean-up. For one, the layout is rather ugly and it just looks like a huge essay. It should probably be broken up a bit. Second thing is there is quite a few unnecessary references to in-game groups that aren't particularly consequential to the article. I'm really not any sort of wiki-veteran, but I thought I'd throw this out for discussion.

Empire of Attica

VfD:Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/Empire_of_Attica

Well-written article - however, it's about a nation in the NationStates online game. A single nation in the NationStates game is not notable, especially given the VfD precedent of Europe. I've copied the article to NSwiki (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Attican_Empire). --Goobergunch 01:48, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Content:Empire of Attica

In Max Barry's Nationstates fictional universe, the Empire of Attica (Attican German: Kaiserrêch Attika) is one of Eropid's most powerful and influential nations. Throughout the Nationstates world, the Attican Empire remains one of the key players in international politics. {| style="margin-left:0.5em; float:right" border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" width="300px" |+ font size="+1"| Kaiserrêch Attika |style="background:#efefef;" align="center" colspan="2"| {| border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" style="text-align:center;" | width="140px"| | width="140px" rowspan="2" height="130px"| |- | width="140px"| (In Detail) |} |- |align="center" colspan="2" style="border-bottom:3px" solid=""| <font size="-1">National motto: Frêhêt für Treü, Tod für Verrat"<br> (Attican German: Freedom for Loyalty, Death for Treason)</font> |- |align=center colspan=2| |- |Official language || Attican German¹ |- |Capital || Attikburg |- |Largest City || Attikburg |- |Kaiser: || Otto von Petinski XIII |- |Klênerkaiser: || None |- |Area || 10,756,025km² |- |Population || 4,048,000,000 |- |Unification || Treaty of Zetross August 20th, 2003 |- |GDP || $70.49 Trillion |- |Currency || KM (K) |- |Time zone || UTC +1 (DST +2) |- |National anthem || Attiklïd |- |Internet TLD || .ap |- |Calling Code || +12 |} == History == Main article: History of Attica For hundreds of years, the Attican Peninsula of Eropid had been divided into small Germanic states. The central power among these states shifted from time to time, from Zetross to Addison to Attikburg. In August of 2003 (minding you that one day in real life is one year in NS), König Otto von Attiska, with the approval of the Reichstag in Attikburg, joined in an alliance with Brelinburg and Addison. Within one year, an opposing alliance of Zetross, Obnama, and Sudseeburg attacked Brelinburg in their southernmost regions. The First War of Unification had begun. In the first two years of the war, it appeared as though the Southern Alliance (Zetross, Obnama, and Sudseeburg) would be victorious, as Zetrossan and Obnaman divisions had captured Brelinburg, and Addison was under siege. However, by the third year of the war, the Polavakians in the south had joined in secret alliance with the Attican Alliance of the north, supplying vast amounts of supplies and troops. By the fifth year of the war, Brelinburg had been liberated, Obnama was in Attican hands, and Zetross would soon fall. In the sixth year of the War, on August 6th, 2003, the victorious Attican Alliance signed a formal peace treaty with the Southern Alliance, ending the war. Major concessions were made, including many of the smaller states being annexed by northern powers. In the midwar years, Attiska, Ostattiska, and Brelinburg merged to form the Kingdom of North Attica (Königreich Nordattika). The southern nations remained bitterly divided, although new alliances in the south were forming. Zetross became the dominant nation of the southern region, with Obnama, Sudseeburg, and Addison all falling under it's domination. An alliance was even formed with the southern island of Polavakia. On August 10th, 2003, 12 divisions of the Zetrossen 4. Korps crossed North Attican lines, and easily took the undefended city of Brelinburg. As the North Atticans scrambled to mobilize their military, Zetrossen troops marched freely thru the countryside. By the 12th, it seemed the Zetrossens were about to win the war. By a twist of fate, the Empire of FPC in the east had, on the 14th, invaded Zetross over a territorial dispute. With their forces being spread over a huge front, the finally mobilized North Attican armies were finally able to break the lines of Zetross. It took another 6 years before the fighting came to a cease, and Attican-FPCian forces took the city of Zetross. On the 20th, the Treaty of Zetross was signed, finally forming a unified nation known as the "Kaiserreich Attika", or Empire of Attica. König Otto von Attiska II was named Emperor of the new nation, which was theoretically a constitutional monarchy. On October 5th, 2003, the 1., 2., and 3. Heeresgruppe and the 1. and 2. Luftwaffen attacked FPC on the entire eastern front. With this attack, the First Atticos-FPC war began. At first, the war went smoothly for the Atticans. Their troops made huge victories in the eastern provinces, and victory was nearly assured. However, FPC diplomats were able to found alliances with several large overseas empires, particularly McLeod, Shildonia, and the Autonomous City States. With their help, FPC pushed back Attican forces, and many Attican cities fell to Allied forces. On October 8th, delegates from McLeod, FPC, Attica, ACS, Shildonia, Kahta, and many other nations conjured in Attikburg to sign a peace treaty. The Kaiser signed the Treaty of Cyziezn, which nearly destroyed the Empire. It demoted the Kaiser to König (King), it imposed a strong republican government on the nation, required Attica to pay war reparations, forces a limitation on the Reichswehr to 100,000 men for 20 years, and required a peace conference every year. On the first peace conference on October 6th, 2003, all delegates arrived. A rogue group known as the Nationalistpartei plotted for, and commenced, an operation to murder the delegates. Many delegates were injured, but suprisingly, no reprisal took place. Officially, many nations broke relations with Attica, but the restrictions of the treaty were lifted. From October 7th, 2003, to October 12th, 2004, there were numerous minor conflicts, in the end, establishing Atticas dominance of the Eropian Continent. On October 13th, delegations from Polavakia (Pleissen) and Attica convened in Cyziezn. They agreed to unify the new monarchies under a "Doppelreich" government, creating the "Doppelreich Attika". On October 20th, the Atticans reverted back to the Kaiserreich, revoked the Polavakian monarchy's power, and made Pleissen a Reichsprovinz. This sparked a rebellion in Polavakia which still lasts to this day. == Politics == Main article: Politics of Attica Attica is an absolute monarchy. The chief of state is the Kaiser, who controls all aspects of the nation. the Rêchstag is an advisory body to the Kaiser, who make no decisions, but can inform the Kaiser about events. The political system of Attica is quite simple, in reality, when compared to other nations. == States == Main article: States of Attica Attica is divided into 5 Rèchsprovinze, and 15 Rèchslanden. NSEconomy

I would say that the NSEconomy link is somewhat unnecessary, and shows a specific bias. All of the other links are either directly affiliated with Nationstates, or are providing a service that does not exist anywhere else. NSEconomy not only does not fill a niche, the formulas behind it were plagiarized. I do not ask for that work to be linked to, only that this nonessential, and biased(however unintentional) link should be removed.

While it may or may not be removed, I've added a small bit about the taking of code for NSEconomy from The Meritocracy.
