Well... Wales as we think of it was always anchored on the area we now call Wales, though reaching out towards the Severn on occasion, as when Tudor Trevor ruled Hereford when the English were weakened by the Danes. But on the other hand, the term "Wales" was applied generically to any of the Cymric areas, as in the old term "West Wales" to mean Cornwall. PML.
