Talk:Atlantic slave trade
From Academic Kids
I remember learning in history class that for every African slave transported to America and the Caribbean, 4 slaves were transported to Arab countries. But a memory of a classroom lesson is not evidence; it's not even scholarship.
Can anyone put the African-American slave trade in perspective? Is it even advisable to compare/contrast it with African-Arab slave trade?
Also, an article on slavery in the Sudan is sorely needed, but my POV on this is so anti-Arab that I'm not the best one to write it. Any ideas?
I'd like to argue for moving the content of this page to a new page Slave trade (Americas) and changing the content of this page to a more general discussion of slave trading through history. Detailed discussions of other major periods of slave trading can then go into their own drill-down pages. Rossami 17:57, 4 Nov 2003 (UTC)
I support you. The title does not match with the article. Should be moved or reedited.
