2ch is not "BBS" as defined in the other entry on Wikipedia. "BBS" in English mainly refers to the old, pre-www-era computer communication system (パソコン通信 in Japanese). Online discussion forum, message board, or the like is a more appropriate term to describe it. (Hermeneus 11:56 18 Jul 2003 (UTC))
According to AcronymFinder, BBS = Bulletin Board System
Btw, there's another site that pretty much resembles 2ch.net called 2chan.net, maybe it should be noted?
2chan.net is known as Futaba Channel and is different from 2ch in that it centers around image uploading, not discussion threads.
- The above comment is correct. Anyway there is an article on 2chan a.k.a. Futaba Channel now.User:Hermeneus/sig 06:04, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Find me one thing that makes a "ga" sound upon hitting. lysdexia 22:45, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- "ga" is a onomatopoeia used for sound of hitting something in Japanese.
- As for hitting itself, it's not for fixing a problem. Originally, one person created a thread "Call NullPointerException Nullpo (http://pc.2ch.net/prog/kako/1024/10245/1024553352.html)" and then the second poster posted an "AA", hitting the first poster with a hammer. After that it becomes almost ritual to hit someone who says "Nullpo". Because "Nullpo" sounds funny, many 2ch'ers started to use it as a funny non-sense word. Kusunose 07:28, 7 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Should "orz" be mentioned on this page? It's briefly mentioned on ASCII_art#Glyph_mosaics_in_Japan, but I had the impression that it was strongly linked to 2ch. --Duty 07:02, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Perhaps more examples of 2ch-slang (2ch語) can be added, like 禿同(はげどう), which is short for 激しく賛同する intentionally spelled with different kanji. I know there are more than this.
I prefer jargon to "slang" or "terminology" to refer to the language used in 2ch.--Outis 08:39, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
ja:2ちゃんねる has much, much more information about 2ch than this entry. A translator would come in handy.

This 2ch thing sounds just like a regular phpBB or Invision Power Board based Internet Forum, it only has more discussion forums and lighter rules. Maybe Hiroyuki Noshomura should stop using Wikipedia for publicity or something. Fuck, I know people worship this stupid asian stuff, but, please, turn down the otakuness.

- 2ch is extraordinary large board. it's not regular phpBB board. Sometimes number of online people@2ch are bigger than number of people who watch japanese TV! it's phenomenon of japanese internet. More than a million people post comments on Channel 2 every day, and the site gets 600 million page views a month.
- 2ch is the most popular website in japan excluding ISP sites, according to Alexa. The Japanese wikipedia has articles upon articles related to 2ch, so it's definitely notable.
