Syracuse, Utah

Syracuse is a city located in Davis County, Utah. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 9,398 and by 2003 was estimated at 14,159. The city grew rapidly during the 1990s and to this day continues to grow rapidly.

Syracuse is located at 41°5'3" North, 112°3'48" West (41.084167, -112.063426)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 22.6 km² (8.7 mi²). 22.6 km² (8.7 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 9,398 people, 2,490 households, and 2,263 families residing in the city. The population density is 416.6/km² (1,078.9/mi²). There are 2,601 housing units at an average density of 115.3/km² (298.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 94.81% White, 0.43% African American, 0.31% Native American, 1.40% Asian, 0.20% Pacific Islander, 1.26% from other races, and 1.60% from two or more races. 3.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,490 households out of which 60.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 83.3% are married couples living together, 5.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 9.1% are non-families. 7.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.77 and the average family size is 3.99.

In the city the population is spread out with 39.8% under the age of 18, 10.6% from 18 to 24, 30.7% from 25 to 44, 14.9% from 45 to 64, and 3.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 25 years. For every 100 females there are 104.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 101.4 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $58,223, and the median income for a family is $60,000. Males have a median income of $41,346 versus $24,792 for females. The per capita income for the city is $16,989. 2.4% of the population and 2.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 2.9% of those under the age of 18 and 6.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
