Stord is a municipality and town in the county of Hordaland, Norway.
Stord is also the name of the island on which the municipality is located. The island consists of two municipalities, Stord in the south, and Fitjar in the north.
The municipality of Stord consist of the southern part of the Stord island, in addition to the island of Huglo, Storsøya and Tanøy.
Aker Stord, situated south of Leirvik, is the biggest wharf in Norway. Aker Stord has built and mated the biggest oil production plattforms in the world, Gullfaks C. and Troll.
An extensive tunnel and bridge system, Trekantsambandet, connected Stord to the mainland and to Bømlo on April 30 2001.
