Springville is a town located in St. Clair County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 2,521.

Springville is located at 33°46'8" North, 86°28'16" West (33.768950, -86.471037)Template:GR.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 16.6 km² (6.4 mi²). 16.6 km² (6.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.31% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,521 people, 990 households, and 767 families residing in the town. The population density is 152.1/km² (393.8/mi²). There are 1,049 housing units at an average density of 63.3/km² (163.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 90.56% White, 7.74% Black or African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.16% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.11% from two or more races. 0.24% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 990 households out of which 34.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.8% are married couples living together, 11.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.5% are non-families. 20.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.55 and the average family size is 2.93.

In the town the population is spread out with 24.9% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 26.2% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 97.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 88.5 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $43,397, and the median income for a family is $53,859. Males have a median income of $35,977 versus $25,542 for females. The per capita income for the town is $20,518. 10.8% of the population and 8.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 11.1% of those under the age of 18 and 23.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

While neither of these films did very well in the Box Office or the eyes of critics and moviegoers, you can see a lot of what Springville, Alabama looks like in the latter of the two.
