History
- 1926: The company was originally founded as Société de Prospection Électrique by Conrad and Marcel Schlumberger.
- 1934: Schlumberger Well Surveying Corporation founded (now Schlumberger Wireline).
- 1940: Moved headquarters to Houston, Texas.
- 1948: Inaugurated Ridgefield Research Center.
- 1956: Schlumberger Limited formed in Curaçao as holding company for all Schlumberger businesses.
- 1960: Formed Dowell Schlumberger by Schlumberger & Dow Chemical.
- 1985: Formed Sedco Forex Drilling Company.
- 1992: Acquired GeoQuest Systems.
- 1998: Acquired Camco International.
- 2000: WesternGeco formed as a joint venture with Baker Hughes.
- 2001: Information technology company Sema acquired for $5.2 billion.
- 2004: Sema sold to Atos Origin for $1.5 billion.
