S.P.O.C.K

S.P.O.C.K (Star Pilot On Channel K) is a Swedish synth pop band, known particularly for their science fiction references, especially Star Trek.

Formed in 1988 - initially for a one time birthday celebration for their friend Finn Malmgren - by Eddie Bengtsson (of Page fame) and Alexander Hofman. The band was initially named Mr. Spock and the band members go by related aliases on stage. (Eddie B. Kirk (Bengtsson), Android (Hofman) and Cybernoid (Malmgren) respectively. Before the end of the year the band performed regular gigs, at which point - due to a disagreement with Paramount Pictures - they changed their name to Star Pilot on Channel K, abbreviated S.P.O.C.K.

Together with such bands as Page, Elegant Machinery, Sista Mannen På Jorden and KieTheVez they help define the sound of the Swedish synthpop movement.

Some of their representative songs include Never Trust A Klingon, In Space No One Can Hear You Scream, Mr. Spock's Brain, and Astro Girl.
