Rolling Meadows is a city located in Cook County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 24,604.

Rolling Meadows is the hometown of TV and film star Gary Cole.

Geography

Rolling Meadows is located at 42°4'34" North, 88°1'33" West (42.076209, -88.025911)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.1 km² (5.5 mi²). 14.1 km² (5.4 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 24,604 people, 8,923 households, and 6,174 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,743.1/km² (4,510.4/mi²). There are 9,151 housing units at an average density of 648.3/km² (1,677.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 82.33% White, 2.83% African American, 0.27% Native American, 6.61% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 5.95% from other races, and 1.98% from two or more races. 19.20% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 8,923 households out of which 33.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% are married couples living together, 9.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.8% are non-families. 24.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.72 and the average family size is 3.26.

In the city the population is spread out with 25.1% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 33.9% from 25 to 44, 21.1% from 45 to 64, and 10.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 102.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 101.5 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $59,535, and the median income for a family is $68,571. Males have a median income of $45,101 versus $35,039 for females. The per capita income for the city is $26,178. 5.1% of the population and 3.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 7.4% of those under the age of 18 and 2.9% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
