Rin (りん) is a character in the anime and manga series InuYasha. Rin was a small, mute, orphaned human girl who lost both her parents to the civil wars.

One day she finds Sesshomaru resting his injuries after a battle with InuYasha in the forest and brings him some human food. Sesshomaru, being a yōkai, doesn't need it, but he shows that he has a gentle side in asking her why her face and hands were bruised. Rin is very happy to hear that as no one ever cared about her and the village people often beat her up for she was always hungry and stole food.

Later, yōkai Kōga's wolves raid the village she lived in and chase her down the forest. Sesshomaru recognizes the scent of her blood and finds her body. Using the sword Tenseiga, Sesshomaru brings Rin back to life - arguably his first kind gesture shown in the series. She soon regains the ability to speak and she now tags along with him and his yōkai assistant Jaken in their travels.

Unlike most of the characters in the series, Rin has an upbeat and optimistic personality, similar to that of Shippo and Kagome. In addition to her cheerful and caring personality, she likes to sing songs such as "Mr. Jaken, why are you green?" and "Where are you, Lord Sesshomaru?".

Whenever Jaken tries to lecture her about the 'greatness of Sesshomaru', or how 'despicable' that InuYasha is, Rin walks away with Ah-Un and gently ignores him, but she is very obedient to whatever Sesshomaru says, to the point of staying absolutely still when Sesshomaru says "Don't move, Rin" when he senses that she might be in danger.

Naraku attempts to use Kohaku to kill her, but Sesshomaru finds out and stops him. After this, Sesshomaru has a vendetta against both Naraku and Kohaku. However, Rin likes Kohaku and was thinking about protecting him from Sesshomaru at Mt. Hakurei.

Rin later has to make a choice between living among mortal humans and go back to her previous life-style in a caring village, or continue to follow Sesshomaru until the day she dies. She is hesitant for a brief moment before running after Sesshomaru and saying "Good-bye" to the group of monks that rescued her from a yōkai. This greatly puzzles the leader of the monks, but he lets her go nonetheless.

Sesshomaru's pet beast, Ah-Un (阿吽), who is a two-headed dragon, often accompanies Rin when Sesshomaru is away dealing situations that would be dangerous for her.

In the Japanese version of the anime, she is voiced by Mamiko Noto.
