Redby CDP is a census-designated place (CDP) within the Lower Red Lake unorganized teritory located in Beltrami County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 957.

The United States Census Bureau uses the CDP designation as a reporting mechanism to provide area and population values for a more densely settled community within the much larger, and less populated territory. According to the U.S. Census, the CDP has a total area of 31.5 km² (12.1 mi²). 30.2 km² (11.7 mi²) of it is land and 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.95% water.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 957 people, 244 households, and 203 families residing in the community. The population density is 31.7/km² (82.0/mi²). There are 251 housing units at an average density of 8.3/km² (21.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 1.04% White, 97.81% Native American, 0.21% Asian, and 0.94% from two or more races. 1.57% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 244 households out of which 54.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 30.7% are married couples living together, 38.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 16.4% are non-families. 13.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.81 and the average family size is 4.03.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 45.6% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 13.4% from 45 to 64, and 5.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 21 years. For every 100 females there are 87.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 86.7 males.

The median income for a household is $30,000, and the median income for a family is $30,588. Males have a median income of $25,642 versus $26,500 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $9,886. 36.9% of the population and 33.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 42.1% of those under the age of 18 and 28.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
