Ransom Everglades

Ransom Everglades consists of two educational institutions in Coconut Grove, Florida, one middle school and one high school. The two schools, the Everglades School for Girls and Ransom, a school for boys, merged in the early 1970s.
It is one of Miami's premier prep schools, alongside Gulliver Preparatory School, with an excellent record of sending students to Ivy League schools and the like, and a challenging and wide ranging academic program. The school has the best course offerings and facilities in the Miami area - comparable to a small college.
Admissions are very competitive, and tuition is around $20,000 a year. Substantial financial aid is available.
Graduating classes tend to number around 140 students, all of whom go to 4 year colleges, most out of state.
The Everglades School for Girls was started by Mary B. Swenson in the 1950s; Ransom, intended as an all-boys school, was started in 1903 by Paul C. Ransom as the Adirondack-Florida School.
The high school, formerly Ransom, is located on the shore of Biscayne Bay. The middle school, formerly Everglades, is about three miles from the high school and is not located on the water.
