Trivia and references

  • The album's title is obviously a reference to Kryptonite, a fictional substance from the Superman mythos, as is the phone booth on the cover. The track "Jimmy Olsen's Blues" refers to Jimmy Olsen, a supporting character from the same universe. See also: Superman in popular music.
    • In the months following the success of the album, at least one issue of the Superman comic had Jimmy Olsen wearing a Spin Doctors t-shirt.
