Philip of Burgundy (1323-1346)

Philip of Burgundy (November 10 1323 - August 10 1346) was Count of Auvergne and Boulogne and the only son and heir of Eudes IV, Duke of Burgundy by his wife, princess Joanna of France, daughter of king Philip V. Philip was supposed to inherit the Duchy of Burgundy, but he died prematurely by a kick of a farmer's horse, that caught him in the head. Since he had no other children from his marriage to Joanna of Auvergne, the future of the Capetian dynasty of Burgundy was then placed in the hands of his young son Philip.
