New Holland is a borough located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 5,092. Before it became known as New Holland, it had been called Earltown and New Design.

The New Holland part of Case-New Holland company had its roots here. In 1940 the modern hay baler was first manufactured here.

New Holland is located at 40°6'8" North, 76°5'16" West (40.102095, -76.087646)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 5.4 km² (2.1 mi²). 5.4 km² (2.1 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 5,092 people, 2,084 households, and 1,448 families residing in the borough. The population density is 945.2/km² (2,444.2/mi²). There are 2,159 housing units at an average density of 400.8/km² (1,036.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 90.34% White, 1.02% African American, 0.08% Native American, 4.30% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 2.57% from other races, and 1.67% from two or more races. 6.42% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,084 households out of which 28.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.5% are married couples living together, 7.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.5% are non-families. 25.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 2.92.

In the borough the population is spread out with 22.4% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 95.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.1 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $44,446, and the median income for a family is $50,758. Males have a median income of $37,002 versus $25,766 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $20,187. 5.2% of the population and 3.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 7.5% of those under the age of 18 and 1.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
