According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.5 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.5 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 284 people, 116 households, and 83 families residing in the town. The population density is 111.9/km² (289.3/mi²). There are 150 housing units at an average density of 59.1/km² (152.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.24% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.06% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. 1.76% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 116 households out of which 30.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.3% are married couples living together, 9.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.6% are non-families. 27.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 2.93.

In the town the population is spread out with 24.6% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 89.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 81.4 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $22,273, and the median income for a family is $29,167. Males have a median income of $24,375 versus $16,875 for females. The per capita income for the town is $11,066. 24.4% of the population and 20.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 35.1% of those under the age of 18 and 22.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
