Millsfield Township is a township located in Coos County, New Hampshire. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 22. In New Hampshire, locations, grants, townships (which are different from towns), and purchases are unincorporated portions of a county which are not part on any town and have limited self-government (if any, as many are uninhabited).

Millsfield Township has the only road that leads to Erving's Location, the place that (according to the Census) has a population of 1, although that fact is disputed. The road is a dirt road just north of a pond and campground (see picture). The road goes to the north of Millsfield's Mount Kelsey.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 117.4 km² (45.3 mi²). 116.4 km² (45.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.9 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.77% water. The town is bordered to the west by Erving's Location and Odell, to the north by Dixville, to the east by Errol, and to the south by Dummer. A mountain named Mount Kelsey is in the western portion of Millsfield.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 22 people, 8 households, and 5 families residing in the township. The population density is 0.2/km² (0.5/mi²). There are 62 housing units at an average density of 0.5/km² (1.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 100.00% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 8 households out of which 12.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.5% are married couples living together, 25.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.5% are non-families. 37.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 25.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.75 and the average family size is 3.80.

In the township the population is spread out with 13.6% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 22.7% from 25 to 44, 9.1% from 45 to 64, and 45.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 52 years. For every 100 females there are 37.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 46.2 males.

The median income for a household in the township is $59,375, and the median income for a family is $59,375. Males have a median income of $38,750 versus $0 for females. The per capita income for the township is $13,063. 0.0% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line.
