The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is a London borough in East London.

The borough includes the following areas:

The borough borders the London Borough of Havering to the east with the River Rom forming part of the boundary. It borders the London Borough of Newham to the west with the River Roding forming much of the border. To the south is the River Thames which forms the borough's boundary with the London Borough of Bexley and the London Borough of Greenwich. To the north the borough forms a thin protrusion between Havering and the London Borough of Redbridge in order to encompass Chadwell Heath.

The borough was formed in 1965 from the greater part of the boroughs of Barking and Dagenham which were transferred to Greater London from Essex. The Barking Campus of the University of East London is located in the borough. The town is twinned with Witten in Germany.

Transport in the borough is provided principally by the District Line of the London Underground which passes through the borugh west to east with stations at Barking, Upney, Becontree, Dagenham Heathway and Dagenham East. Barking is also served by the Hammersmith and City Line and by c2c and Silverlink National Rail routes. There are also mainline stations at Dagenham Dock and Chadwell Heath.

The borough is served by the following stations:

The southern part of the borough adjacent to the Thames is within the London Riverside section of the Thames Gateway redevelopment area. New open spaces, residential communities and transport options including further stations on the c2c line, expansion of the Docklands Light Railway and the building of the East London Transit are being considered.
