Largo is an unincorporated community and census designated place in Prince George's County, Maryland. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 8,408.

Largo is located at 38°52'37" North, 76°49'50" West (38.876850, -76.830651)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.9 km² (3.0 mi²). 7.9 km² (3.0 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


From a Metro Standpoint

The Washington Metro linked Largo to the rest of the system by way of the Blue line in 2005.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 8,408 people, 3,471 households, and 2,127 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,064.4/km² (2,758.8/mi²). There are 3,709 housing units at an average density of 469.5/km² (1,217.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 4.27% White, 92.69% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.78% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.51% from other races, and 1.58% from two or more races. 1.43% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,471 households out of which 31.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 34.3% are married couples living together, 22.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 38.7% are non-families. 31.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 3.09.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 25.3% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 35.9% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 4.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 79.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 73.7 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $58,130, and the median income for a family is $70,421. Males have a median income of $40,067 versus $37,417 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $26,312. 5.3% of the population and 3.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 7.6% of those under the age of 18 and 6.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
