The Landtag of Bavaria is Bavaria's unicameral legislature. Before 1999 there was an upper house, the Senate of Bavaria.

The state government is formed by the CSU, with Edmund Stoiber as Minister-president.
Elections are conducted using a proportional representation system, with a mininum of 5% vote share to receive any seats.
