Lamoille County is a county located in the state of Vermont. As of 2000, the population is 23,233. Its county seat is Hyde Park6.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,201 km² (464 mi²). 1,194 km² (461 mi²) of it is land and 7 km² (3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.60% water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 23,233 people, 9,221 households, and 5,984 families residing in the county. The population density is 19/km² (50/mi²). There are 11,009 housing units at an average density of 9/km² (24/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 97.31% White, 0.33% Black or African American, 0.45% Native American, 0.37% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 1.39% from two or more races. 0.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 9,221 households out of which 32.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.40% are married couples living together, 8.90% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.10% are non-families. 25.00% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.10% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 2.94.

In the county, the population is spread out with 24.30% under the age of 18, 10.00% from 18 to 24, 29.90% from 25 to 44, 24.50% from 45 to 64, and 11.40% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 100.10 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.30 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $39,356, and the median income for a family is $44,620. Males have a median income of $30,848 versus $24,444 for females. The per capita income for the county is $20,972. 9.60% of the population and 6.40% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 10.70% of those under the age of 18 and 8.50% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
