Lake Tansi is a census-designated place located in Cumberland County, Tennessee. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 2,621.
Geography
Lake Tansi is located at 35°52'29" North, 85°3'5" West (35.874617, -85.051490)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 24.6 km² (9.5 mi²). 22.6 km² (8.7 mi²) of it is land and 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 8.12% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,621 people, 1,166 households, and 875 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 116.2/km² (301.0/mi²). There are 1,735 housing units at an average density of 76.9/km² (199.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 98.40% White, 0.08% African American, 0.31% Native American, 0.31% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 0.80% from two or more races. 0.84% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,166 households out of which 22.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.2% are married couples living together, 9.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.9% are non-families. 21.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.25 and the average family size is 2.56.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 19.0% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 22.0% from 25 to 44, 28.8% from 45 to 64, and 24.7% who are 65 years of age or older.
