Lake Erie Beach is a hamlet (and a census-designated place) located in the Town of Evans in Erie County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 4,499.
Geography
Lake Erie Beach is located at 42°37'25" North, 79°4'54" West (42.623658, -79.081635)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the area has a total area of 10.0 km² (3.8 mi²). 10.0 km² (3.8 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Lake Erie Beach is located between Route 5 and the Lake Erie shore.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 4,499 people, 1,709 households, and 1,213 families residing in the hamlet. The population density is 451.2/km² (1,168.7/mi²). There are 2,096 housing units at an average density of 210.2/km² (544.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the community is 97.60% White, 0.20% African American, 0.64% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 1.24% from two or more races. 0.93% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,709 households out of which 35.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.7% are married couples living together, 12.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.0% are non-families. 24.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.63 and the average family size is 3.11.
In the village the population is spread out with 27.7% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 31.1% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 10.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 99.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.3 males.
