Key Colony Beach is a city located in Monroe County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 788.

Key Colony Beach is located at 24°43'28" North, 81°1'5" West (24.724515, -81.017928)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.7 km² (0.7 mi²). 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 23.88% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 788 people, 422 households, and 253 families residing in the city. The population density is 596.6/km² (1,549.8/mi²). There are 1,293 housing units at an average density of 978.9/km² (2,543.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 99.11% White, 0.51% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.38% from two or more races. 4.44% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 422 households out of which 8.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.9% are married couples living together, 3.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.0% are non-families. 31.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.87 and the average family size is 2.25.

In the city the population is spread out with 7.6% under the age of 18, 3.6% from 18 to 24, 14.3% from 25 to 44, 36.8% from 45 to 64, and 37.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 58 years. For every 100 females there are 99.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $45,577, and the median income for a family is $53,750. Males have a median income of $28,654 versus $27,143 for females. The per capita income for the city is $40,631. 7.4% of the population and 3.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 10.2% of those under the age of 18 and 3.9% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
