Kde domov muj
From Academic Kids
Kde domov můj? (Where is My Home?) is the national anthem of the Czech Republic. It has been used since independence in 1993. In the old Czechoslovakia, this song formed the first part of the national anthem, with the first stanza of Slovak anthem forming the second part.
It was written by the composer František Škroup and the dramatist Josef Kajetn Tyl as a part of the comedy Fidlovačka aneb ždn hněv a ždn rvačka (Fidlovačka, or no anger and no brawl). It was performed for the first time in the Stavovsk Divadlo (Estates Theatre) in Prague on December 21, 1834. The song originally had more stanzas, but only the first is officially the anthem and the rest is forgotten.

- Where is my home?
- Where is my home?
- Water rushing 'cross the meadows,
- Pine woods hush o'er rocky hills,
- Orchards where spring blossom gleams,
- Paradise on Earth it seems!
- And this is that land of beauty,
- The Czech Land, [here] is my home,
- The Czech Land, [here] is my home!
