Interstate 295 (Florida)

The 35.511 mile (57.15 km) long Interstate 295 in Florida loops around the west side of Jacksonville, Florida. The Buckman Bridge carries Interstate 295 traffic over the St. Johns River in Jacksonville. By 2006 Interstate 295/Florida State Road 9A (SR 9A) will form a contiguous loop through the entire city (since Jacksonville and Duval county are consolidated, that means I-295 is always in the city Jacksonville.) The east part of the loop is only partially completed and is currently referred to as SR 9A, which the Dames Point Bridge is a part of. The west loop, currently Interstate 295, is also part of FL 9A, but is not signed that way. The entire loop will be signed I-295 sometime around 2009 when the last remaining traffic-light intersection on SR 9A, at the junction of SR 9A and SR 202 (J. Turner Butler Boulevard), is converted to a multi-level interchange.

In the future, a new expressway, Interstate 795 (SR 9B) will extend as a short stub from the southeast-most corner of the completed I-295 loop to Interstate 95 in Saint Johns County.
