Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,244 km² (867 mi²). 2,230 km² (861 mi²) of it is land and 15 km² (6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.65% water.

The county is divided into twotownships: Valley and William Hamilton; and three areas of unorganized territory: Central Hyde, Crow Creek, and North Hyde.
