Hogsmeade

Template:HP Place

Hogsmeade, Scotland, UK is a fictional settlement that appears in the Harry Potter novels. Hogsmeade is the only pure wizarding settlement in the United Kingdom and is located south of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Third year students and older are permitted to visit the village, as long as they have a signed permission slip from their parent or guardian.

Hogsmeade remained unseen in the films, except for the short sequence where the train arrives at the Hogsmeade station in the first movie, until the release of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in 2004.

A map of Hogsmeade can be found at the Harry Potter Lexicon (http://www.hp-lexicon.org/atlas/britain/atlas-b-hogsmeade.html) site.

Contents

The Three Broomsticks

The Three Broomsticks is one of the local pubs in Hogsmeade. It is well known for its delicious "Butterbeers" and the beautiful landlady Madam Rosmerta.

Zonko's Joke Shop

Zonko's has jokes that could "fulfill even Fred and George's wildest dreams."

The Hogsmeade Station

This is where the Hogwarts Express arrives after traveling from King's Cross. The actual location is the station on the North York Moors Railway, built in 1865 and virtually unchanged, that serves the village of Goathland in the North Yorkshire Moors, already well known to British viewers as the fictional village of Aidensfield from the British TV series, Heartbeat.

The Hog's Head

The Hog's Head is another pub, which attracts more "interesting" customers than the Three Broomsticks.

Dervish and Banges

This place sells magical equipment.

Scrivenshaft's Quill Shop

Hermione Granger bought a black-and-gold pheasant-feather quill here.

Gladrags Wizardwear

Gladrags Wizardwear sells clothes. There are other shops in London and Paris.

Madam Puddifoot's

For an unknown reason Madam Puddifoot's place attracts couples. Harry and Cho went on their first (and most likely last) date here. The Valentine's Day decorations in Madam Puddifoot's reminded Harry of Professor Umbridge's office.

Honeydukes Sweetshop

Honeydukes sells candies of all descriptions. The owners of this place live above the shop. There is a secret passage between here and a statue of a humpbacked witch on the third floor of Hogwarts.

The Post Office

This place is filled with owls which are color-coded based on how fast you want your letter to get to its destination.

The Shrieking Shack

This house is supposed to be the most severely haunted building in Britain. The Hogwarts ghosts avoid this place. Fred and George Weasley tried to get in of course, but failed.

This house was built when a werewolf named Remus Lupin arrived at the school. A tunnel was built leading to the house, and the Whomping Willow was planted over the entrance. Lupin was brought here when he became a werewolf so that he wouldn't be a danger to others. Removed from humans to bite, he bit and scratched himself. Villagers, hearing the noise, believed the building to be haunted—a rumor encouraged by Albus Dumbledore. Even though the house has been silent for years, the villagers don't dare approach it. Needless to say, the place isn't really haunted.ja:ホグズミード村 he:הארי_פוטר_-_אתרים#.D7.94.D7.95.D7.92.D7.A1.D7.9E.D7.99.D7.93
