Hobart Bay, Alaska

Hobart Bay is a census-designated place located in Skagway-Hoonah-Angoon Census Area, Alaska. As of the 2000 census, the population of the CDP is 3. According to the United States Census Bureau, it is one of only 9 places in the United States with a population of three people. The others are East Blythe, California, North Red River Township, Minnesota, Rulien Township, Minnesota, Hush Lake, Minnesota, Pfeiffer Lake, Minnesota, Livermore, New Hampshire, Hillsview, South Dakota, and Point of Rocks, Wyoming.

The bay was named in 1889 by Lt. Commander Mansfield of the U. S. Navy. The site was first settled as a logging camp. The population has declined in recent years and would it probably not be incorporated as a town with the present population.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 336.2 km² (129.8 mi²). 304.1 km² (117.4 mi²) of it is land and 32.1 km² (12.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 9.54% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 3 people, 2 households, and 1 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 0.0/km² (0.0/mi²). There are 17 housing units at an average density of 0.1/km² (0.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 66.67% White and 33.33% Native American.

There are 2 households out of which 0.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.0% are married couples living together, 0.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 50.0% are non-families. 50.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 0.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
