From Academic Kids

Gallipolis is a city (though not technically a city after the last census) located in Gallia County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 4,180. The accent goes on the last syllable when pronouncing the name: "gal li po LEES". It is the county seat of Gallia CountyTemplate:GR. Residents tend to know each other (if they aren't related) and other's business. The are two schools within the city. The schools in the city limits Gallia Academy High School and Washington Elementary and belong to the Gallipolis City School District. The school district also controls two schools outside of the city limits. The city is plagued with businesses that seem to stay in business that is most likely a result of the city's aquisition of Wal-mart in 1998. The city is now looking to increase visitors to the city by allowing a company to rent out parking spaces on the park front portion of 1st avenue where farmer's previously parked to sell produce without a charge. The city also has a high "teen dislike" because of their behavior in the city. Few believe that this stemmed from the fact that there are no real places for them to socialize in the city limits.
