Franklin Park is a borough located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 11,364.

Geography

Franklin Park is located at 40°35'26" North, 80°5'31" West (40.590459, -80.092046)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 35.2 km² (13.6 mi²). 35.2 km² (13.6 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 11,364 people, 3,866 households, and 3,282 families residing in the borough. The population density is 323.1/km² (836.5/mi²). There are 3,973 housing units at an average density of 113.0/km² (292.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 95.05% White, 1.02% African American, 0.04% Native American, 2.89% Asian, 0.19% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races. 0.54% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,866 households out of which 45.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 78.0% are married couples living together, 4.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 15.1% are non-families. 13.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.93 and the average family size is 3.23.

In the borough the population is spread out with 30.8% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 29.6% from 45 to 64, and 9.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.2 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $87,627, and the median income for a family is $94,521. Males have a median income of $77,517 versus $40,828 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $37,924. 3.1% of the population and 2.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.2% of those under the age of 18 and 5.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
