Enola, Pennsylvania

Enola is a census-designated place located in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 5,627.

Geography

Enola is located at 40°17'25" North, 76°56'4" West (40.290238, -76.934579)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.8 km² (1.9 mi²). 4.8 km² (1.9 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 5,627 people, 2,392 households, and 1,459 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,168.1/km² (3,018.9/mi²). There are 2,514 housing units at an average density of 521.9/km² (1,348.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 95.93% White, 0.89% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.87% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.44% from other races, and 1.65% from two or more races. 1.48% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,392 households out of which 28.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.6% are married couples living together, 13.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.0% are non-families. 31.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.26 and the average family size is 2.84.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 21.8% under the age of 18, 13.0% from 18 to 24, 33.4% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 11.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 90.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.5 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $36,564, and the median income for a family is $40,901. Males have a median income of $31,316 versus $25,426 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $17,740. 7.9% of the population and 5.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 10.0% of those under the age of 18 and 2.1% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
